Ditmas Park
Ditmas Park is one of three Flatbush neighborhoods which
has been officially designated a Historic District. A quiet residential community
located on land that remained rural until the early twentieth century, it is
a suburban-like housing development consisting of large, free-standing homes
built in the first decade of the twentieth century. The Ditmas Park association,
founded in 1908, is still active today.
Strolling through the tree-lined streets, it’s obvious
that the residents take pride in maintaining the integrity of their historic
homes, and that many are avid garndeners. Ditmas Park is a friendly place, boasting
an active homeowner association which hosts social events, publishes a newsletter
and a home improvement directory, and works on numerous civic issues, often
jointly with it sister neighborhoods and the Flatbush Development Corporation.
For more information about the neighborhood
today, please call the Ditmas Park Association President, Monica MacAdams at
718.287.2202 or Marion Lipton, 718.941.9881.
