Ditmas Park West
At the turn of the twentieth century, this entire area was
still part of a large tract of farmland, which had belonged for generations
to the Ditmas family. This community has many lovely Victorian Homes with special
distinctions that are unique to Flatbush – exposed tiger oak walls, fireplaces,
tree-lined streets and the close feeling of neighbors caring about each other.
Residents of Ditmas Park West take special pride in caring
for their trees. On the day of the Flatbush House Tour, you’ll notice
them planting trees as they celebrate Arbor Day and honor the towering 80 year
old maples, elms and London planes of this area.
For information about the neighborhood today, please contact
the Ditmas Park West Association President, Gary Sucher, 718.941.8947.
