West Midwood

This community – which evokes a small-town atmosphere with its tree-lined streets, cul-de-sacs and malls – constitutes a portion of the vast turn-of-the-century construction effort of the Germania Real Estate and Improvement Company. West Midwood forms the western edge of Gemania’s Midwood development, which stretched from Flatbush Avenue to Coney Island Avenue.

Original homeowners in West Midwood, while generally not as wealthy as their neighbors in communities like Prospect Park South and Ditmas Park, were certainly “solid citizens.”

West Midwood is a small village where people really value their neighbors. Residents of West Midwod take great pride in their community-building events. These include an annual Progressive Dinner and an annual neighborhood yard sale.
